Marcella Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix
You can stream the third season of Marcella on Netflix
If you’re looking for a gritty TV crime drama, Marcella on Netflix is a must-watch. The third season is now available to stream in full, ahead of the release in the UK.
It’s not often that North America gets the release of a British crime drama ahead of the UK. However, ITV has chosen to hold the release of Marcella Season 3 for the fall. Netflix made the decision not to push the release back.
The third season is set to pick up off the back of the second season, which took us from gritty TV crime drama to delightfully unhinged series. This is one of those shows that you’ll need to watch more than once to see all the clues and appreciate the full storytelling.
What’s in store on Marcella Season 3
Anna Friel is back for the third season as our titular detective, a woman who has a rare neurological condition that can lead to her having blackouts. As she’s investigating murders, she often ends up as one of the suspects because she simply can’t account for her actions or whereabouts. It certainly gives the show a spin that no other TV crime drama has been able to offer.

At the end of the second season finale, Marcella left everything behind. She gave up custody of her children and assaulted DI Rav Sangha, before slashing her own face. Yes, she’s left with Joker-like scars on her mouth, leaving us extremely worried about our favorite flawed female—by the way, this is how you write flawed women by bringing some redeeming qualities.
When Marcella was asked to go undercover, everything seemed perfect. She was accidentally pronounced dead at a housefire, so it’s not like anyone will suspect her of going undercover. She can fully take on the role of Keira, but that doesn’t mean things won’t start to unravel eventually. Her old life is going to catch up with her eventually.
New characters, new case
Amanda Burton, Aaron McCusker, and Hugo Speer join for Marcella Season 3. Burton will play Maguire matriarch, Katherine, while McCusker will play her son Finn. You saw Speer in the second season, and he’s back as Frank Young.
The Maguires will be the family Keira is infiltrating. This crime family is one of Belfast’s nightmares, but only undercover work is going to bring them down. Of course, the family isn’t just immediately going to trust Marcella, especially with the risks she’s willing to take.
Despite successfully faking her death, it will soon come to light that’s not the case. Just how quickly will her past life come back to haunt her and threaten the whole case?
