Chicago PD and The Blacklist are among plans for NBC in fall 2020

NBC has become the latest broadcast network to make plans for fall 2020. It’s followed CBS’s example, creating a fall 2020 schedule that looks similar to normal. Chicago PDThe Blacklist, and more are set to return.

Deadline reports that the fall 2020 schedule is set to look as normal. There’s only one new show heading to the fall, and we already know a bit about it.

More from Chicago PD News

If the schedule works out, the risk could pay off. FOX and The CW have opted for summer and acquisitions to take up the fall slots just in case fall shows can’t film during the summer. CBS and NBC have made it clear they expect filming to resume. Hopefully, NBC does have a backup plan should filming not resume, but right now, it’s being optimistic.

Chicago PD is set to return on Wednesdays at 10 p.m., wrapping up One Chicago Wednesdays, while The Blacklist will return on Friday nights. There really isn’t that much change.

The two TV crime dramas are among the most concerning. Both New York and Chicago have been hit badly with COVID-19 and lockdowns are still in effect. However, the cities are slowly starting to open up.

Law & Order takes over Thursday nights

The biggest change is to Thursday nights on NBC. While Chicago PD is part of One Chicago Wednesdays, we’re getting a Law and Order Thursdays almost. Apart from an hour of comedy to kick-start the night, NBC will now run two hours of the crime drama.

From 9 p.m., Law & Order: SVU Season 22 will air. That will lead into the new spin-off, Law & Order: Organized Crime, which sees Christopher Meloni return to the role of Elliot Stabler.

It makes sense to have two hours of Law & Order running back-to-back. This opens up the chance of crossovers, and we know that Dick Wolf’s teams like their spin-offs.
