Who was guilty of murder on Liar Season 2?

Throughout the whole of Liar Season 2, we have had one question on our minds. Who killed Andrew?

The season took us through a variety of red herrings. Carl thought he did it and now faces time for burning down his own boathouse. There were hints that Rory or his son could have killed Andrew. Then there were clues that Andrew may have even done it himself, feeling like he’d lost absolutely everything and just needed to get back at Laura.

At the very end of Liar Season 2’s finale, we got the answers we needed.

Ollie is charged with murder

After the previous episode, it didn’t take long for Ollie to be charged with Andrew’s murder. It turned out that Ollie told Luke that Andrew had a recording of Luke’s mom somewhere in the house. Luke should destroy it to protect his mom’s reputation.

However, that wasn’t true. We all knew Ollie wanted Luke to find the recording from years earlier.

Well, Luke found the USB stick hidden behind a photo of Andrew and Ollie. He watched it, realized what it was, and took it to the police.

At the same time, Laura broke bail to visit Ollie after finding out who he was and where he worked. He was only the principal of a school! Yes, the show went for that cliché, but it reminds us that not everyone is who they seem.

Laura and Katy managed to get Ollie to confess to enough that would get the police in. Ollie was arrested and charged with murder.

However, it turned out that Ollie confessed to everything but murder. He confessed to setting Laura up and helping Andrew escape. But he didn’t confess to doing the actual killing. Was he just looking for a lighter sentence?

It was Laura all along

Ollie didn’t do it!

It was Laura who killed Andrew.

She had nothing to do with the car key, the necklace in the shipping container, or the Sat Nav. All that was at the hands of Andrew, who had Ollie working for him and manipulated Rory into it all by threatening to expose Rory’s son’s drug problem.

By the way, Rory told the full truth about that, which also helped to get Ollie sent down for Andrew’s murder.

Our detective like a dog with a bone knew the truth. She knew that Laura did it. And Laura admits to it, in a way.

We find out in a flashback that Andrew and Ollie followed Laura to the marina where Laura was kayaking. They expected Laura’s car to be there, but with a dead battery, it was still at home. So, Andrew sent Ollie looking for the car.

While Ollie was gone, Laura and Andrew got into a fight. Laura rushed out to the marshes as Andrew tried to kill her. She ended up slitting his throat in self-defense and then left the body in the marshes.

Renton, who was reeling from the news that her abusive ex had killed his recent partner, decided not to take Laura in. It’s something she’s just going to have to live with.

Instead, there was hopefully enough to get a conviction against Ollie. Even if not for Andrew’s death, there was enough for everything else.

It all seems over for Laura. Or is it?
