Burden of Truth Season 4 confirmed by Canada’s CBC
We’re waiting to see if The CW will pick up Burden of Truth Season 4
Burden of Truth fans have a lot to celebrate right now. The legal drama has been picked up for a fourth season by the Canadian network CBC.
Now all eyes are on whether The CW will pick up Burden of Truth Season 4 for the Stateside viewers.
TVLine shared the renewal news after the show promoted the renewal on its social platforms. Naturally, fans flocked to celebrate the announcement. It’s certainly a show that is needed on the air, especially right now.
What to expect in Burden of Truth Season 4
Right now, we know very little about the new season. The last we saw of Joanna and Billy, they were starting their new family with their law firm growing. They’d successfully got Kodie her kids back, as well as seeing all cases where ClearDawn Labs was involved thrown out. It was a huge success, which certainly would have helped the success of the firm.

Season 4 should follow on from the ending to the third season. Joanna was just days away from giving birth. We’ll hopefully get to see the juggle of being a working mom. I expect some mom guilt thrown in, but I’d love for the series to show that balancing is possible—because from experience, it is!
Filming for the season is set to start sometime this summer in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Will the CW pick up Burden of Truth Season 4?
Of course, all eyes are on whether the show will head to The CW. It wouldn’t make sense for the network to drop it.
Licensing a show is a much lower risk than greenlighting one, which means lower ratings are passable. But when you look at the ratings for Season 3, there’s some great news. According to TV Series Finale, the ratings were up 5% in the total audience and 15% in the demo from the previous season. If The CW licensed on lower ratings, surely the fourth season is a no-brainer.
The uptick in ratings could be because of the storyline, which focused more on the Indigenous people of Canada, as well as the systemic racism within the Canadian justice system. It could also have been the change to the premiere date.
Burden of Truth usually premieres in the summer on The CW. It was moved to May 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. This could be a sign to the network to run it in the spring instead.
