Starz has moved up the Power spinoff for Joseph Sikora’s Tommy.

The Power universe continues to get bigger with Starz pushing up the premiere date for Joseph Sikora to reprise his role as Tommy Egan.

Just ahead of the first spinoff premiering on Sunday, Sept. 6, the network has announced that the Tommy-centric project Force is now the third spinoff in line to launch. Starz still has not confirmed a premiere date.

The show has been retitled Power Book III: Force, whereas it was previously called Power Book IV out of a planned five-spinoff universe. It was originally announced in February but is now officially on its way.

In Force, Joseph Sikora’s character moves out of New York after the events of the original series, which included the death of his longtime best friend and partner James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick).

Since the original spinoff is just now premiering and there’s another show to come after that, it’s not likely we see Tommy Egan’s series until mid- to late 2021 at the earliest.

But it’s fantastic news that the show is moving forward faster than intended. Joseph Sikora has been magnetic as Tommy and easily one of the best actors in Power‘s extensive ensemble; if any character deserved a spinoff it was Tommy Egan.

Not to mention, if any character needed to move on from New York and get a fresh start, it was also Tommy as his love-hate relationship with Ghost put both characters through the wringer. It added up to great TV, but it took a toll on the character and having new possibilities in front of him should make for a dynamic follow-up.

Next Sunday is the premiere of Power Book II: Ghost, which stars Michael Rainey Jr. returning in his role as Ghost’s son Tariq St. Patrick. With his father dead and his mother Tasha (portrayed by Naturi Naughton) on trial for his murder, Tariq turns back to the drug trade.

His original goal is to afford his mother’s top-flight defense attorney—but as fans know, Tariq is well into the criminal underworld anyway, so it’s highly unlikely that’s where he stops.

He was a very polarizing character already so fans will have to see what he gets into now that he has his own show, and if they want to follow him as he could either repeat his father’s mistakes or end up on a whole other journey all his own.

How that spinoff does in the TV ratings should say a lot about what the future holds for Force as well as the other planned offshoots: Raising Kanan and Influence.
