Who’s in Midsomer Murders 22?
The Midsomer Murders series 22 cast hasn’t changed at all, luckily! Neil Dudgeon returns for another go-around as DCI John Barnaby—approaching almost ten years since he took over for original star John Nettles in 2011.
Nick Hendrix returns as Barnaby’s right-hand man DS Jamie Winter and Fiona Dolman (Ultraviolet) as his wife Sarah Barnaby, with Annette Badland coming back as Dr. Fleur Perkins, too.
According to a report from Radio Times the premiere episode will already have some famous guest stars well known to crime show enthusiasts: Sherlock‘s Amanda Abbington, Van Der Valk‘s Maimie McCoy and Mark Williams from Father Brown will all be in the first installment.
When will Midsomer Murders series 22 premiere?
This is the big one. Fans want to know when will Midsomer Murders series 22 premiere, as new episodes haven’t been seen since spring 2020. Needless to say, they’re getting a little restless for more of Barnaby and Winter on their screens!
Unfortunately, ITV has not yet announced a Midsomer Murders series 22 premiere date yet. If the show is just now beginning to film the new season then it won’t return until 2021.
However, it might not be too far off from what viewers are used to: series 20 didn’t premiere until March, and depending on how fast filming goes, that could still be a possibility here as well.
Midsomer Murders series 22 spoilers
There are already some Midsomer Murders series 22 spoilers floating about—even though the show only started filming less than 48 hours ago!
Aside from the aforementioned guest star reveals, the official filming announcement did give up a few more tidbits about the premiere. It will be called “The Wolf Hunter of Little Worthy” and Matt Carter is the director of the episode.
Carter joined the show at the end of series 19 and previously directed the episodes “The Curse of the Ninth,” “The Ghost of Causton Abbey,” “The Lions of Causton,” and “The Sting of Death.”
Radio Times also claims that episodes from the 22nd series will center around a murder-mystery weekend (big shocker), an amateur drama company (another familiar setting), an urban myth, a post-heart operation rehab group, and a scarecrow festival.
If that information is true, then the new series will have at least five episodes in it—six if “The Wolf Hunter of Little Worthy” doesn’t use one of those premises.
We have some very exciting news (that you've all been asking about)… Midsomer Murders Season 22 has started filming…
