Is there hope for Jenny and Liam together on Coroner Season 2?

Relationships are hard and they take work. That’s something Coroner has already shown us, and it looks like Season 2 is going to go into this even more.

The premiere started with a bang. Literally. Jenny returned home with the smell of smoke, immediately triggering Liam.

More from TV Crime Dramas

Something the series hasn’t had time to do yet is to go into Liam’s backstory. We know he’s an Army Vet. He’s seen things in war that nobody would ever want to imagine, and we know that he suffers from PTSD because of that.

The first season just gave us a glimpse at Thanksgiving, and it looks like the second season will go into more detail. We even got a scene with Liam and a friend, allowing Liam to open up a little more so we get to know him better.

Will Jenny’s mental health get in the way of Liam’s recovery?

Both Liam and Jenny have a lot of mental healing to do. Liam is dealing with the trauma of his past, while Jenny is suffering from both anxiety and depression. At the end of Coroner Season 2’s premiere, Jenny decided it was time to feel, but that meant fear of Liam leaving her. She can’t bear the idea.

This could affect Liam mentally. While he wants to be there for Jenny, it could be a little too much for him as he deals with his own past and trauma. Neither sleep well, whether it’s from dreams or sleepwalking. This will have a knock-on effect with their mental health.

Jenny can’t help Liam’s recovery

Not only could Jenny’s mental health cause problems as Liam tries to help her, but he won’t be able to lean on Jenny to help. She isn’t any good at helping with other people’s trauma or mental health issues. She’s barely holding her own together.

We’ve watched as she’s tried to help her son, but he’s found other ways to grow—and he is still struggling but not speaking to his mom about it. Then there’s her dad with dementia, which leads to various problems, especially now that he’s living with them instead of in the home.

There’s so much piling up on Jenny and she doesn’t want to feel any of it. If Liam feels like he can’t talk to her, it could do more damage to him.

On the other hand, she could want Liam to open up about his trauma but he may not be ready for that. It could push them both to breaking point.

Of course, there is the chance of them getting to a breaking point and then finding their way back to each other. Just don’t expect an easy ride on Coroner Season 2 for these two.
