LA’s Finest reminds us it’s okay to be angry and let those emotions out
Nancy focused on helping Izzy on LA’s Finest Season 1, Episode 5
While Syd dealt with working with her ex, Nancy focused on Izzy on LA’s Finest Season 1, Episode 5. As Nancy helped Izzy, she reminded everyone that it’s okay to be angry. It’s definitely okay to let those emotions out.
Since the beginning of the series, Izzy has struggled with her grief. She’s bottled a lot inside, and over the three years since her mother’s death, something has eaten away at her.

When you see how her father has reacted, it’s easy to see why Izzy has bottled so much up. Her father wasn’t exactly the most understanding with Izzy’s actions. He wasn’t even willing to listen to why Izzy would want to visit the woman who caused the accident that had killed Izzy’s mom.
Nancy shows her worth as a stepmom and a friend. She realizes grounding Izzy for her actions isn’t going to work. It’ll make Izzy act out more. Nancy needs to get to the bottom of the problem.

Going to the source of the pain
Syd is the one who gives Nancy the idea during LA’s Finest Season 1, Episode 5. She recommends that Nancy does things the Perez way. So, Nancy took Izzy to the source of the pain: back to the scene of the crime.
With Nancy’s permission and encouragement, Izzy let out her anger. However, the anger wasn’t aimed at Alice, the woman who caused the accident. The anger was aimed toward her mother. Izzy was angry that her mom didn’t hold on for another five minutes for the paramedics to save her.
It’s an understandable anger, but one that we also tend to feel guilty for. After all, how can we be angry toward the person who lost their life? And this is possibly why Izzy has acted out so much. She’s felt the shame that comes with her anger and with her grief.
Something we need to remember though is that anger is one of the stages of grief. Nobody ever says who that anger will be aimed toward, and there’s nothing wrong with it being aimed at the person who died. It feels wrong, but it’s not. Bottling up the anger and feeling ashamed of it is the worst thing you can do.
Hopefully now, Izzy can move forward with her grief. And she knows that she has someone in her corner when it comes to her feelings.
