Are other main characters in danger on Big Sky?

Caution: There are spoilers from Big Sky Episode 2 in this post.

Big Sky Episode 2 very quickly answered a few questions from the first episode. It’s left an even bigger question. Is anyone safe?

More from TV Crime Dramas

The pilot episode ended with Ryan Phillippe’s Cody Hoyt being shot at point-blank range by the Montana sheriff. It was highly unlikely, but we hoped against everything that he would survive. Sadly, the second episode quickly proved that wasn’t the case.

We watched as not only Cody’s body but his car was buried by Ronald. Anything to cover up tracks, right? It’s smart, but probably won’t be smart enough. Eventually, the women will find out that Cody is no longer with the living.

This isn’t about the women, though. We’re curious about what this means for everyone on the show. Is anyone safe on Big Sky?

Big Sky killed off a main character quickly

More often than not, if a character is a series regular, they’re going to survive during the majority of the series. If they’re going to die, it’s at a big episode like the midseason finale or the season finale. It’s highly uncommon to kill off a lead character in the series regular.

And yet, Big Sky did just that. Phillippe was one of the big draws for many fans. There was a lot of hope that because we couldn’t see the body clearly that he would have somehow survived.

Now that we know he’s dead, we can’t help but fear for everyone else. One thing this surprise death has told us is that we can’t assume anyone will make it through each episode alive. Get ready for anything to happen.

And in a way, this is a good thing. As much as we don’t want to lose any more characters we’ve come to like, not being able to predict the story is refreshing for someone who watches a lot of TV.
