All Rise season 2, episode 7 preview.

When All Rise returns tonight, TV crime drama fans will have an awful lot to talk about. “Almost the Meteor” includes some big developments, including one that viewers of the CBS series have been waiting for.

The most recent episode concluded with Lola Carmichael’s (Simone Missick) water breaking, so it’s no spoiler to say that Monday’s installment includes Lola having her baby. But even during such an awesome moment for herself and her husband Robin (Todd Williams), Lola’s mind is never totally off work.

Even during maternity leave, she’s still hustling—signing herself up for a training course overseen by Judge Lisa Benner (Marg Helgenberger).

But who wants to bet that her newborn baby is going to be a major distraction? And that Lola will learn that juggling motherhood and her career is harder than she thought?

More from TV Crime Dramas

Back at the office, Luke Watkins (J. Alex Brinson) finds himself continuing to be on the opposite side of the aisle from his ex-girlfriend Emily Lopez (Jessica Camacho).

While that may be awkward for them on a personal level, can they find some common ground professionally to handle the armed robbery case they’ve been dealt?

They might work for opposing entities, but they both have the same desire to make the justice system better, so even though we last left them in a difficult place perhaps they’ll be able to work through it for the betterment of both their clients and themselves.

Speaking of difficulty, and last but not least, the juiciest All Rise storyline is still Mark Callan’s (Wilson Bethel) war against a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. With District Attorney Louis Bravo (a returning Ian Anthony Dale) continuing to interject his opinion, and defense attorney Corrine Cuthbert (Chicago PD veteran Anne Heche) chewing the scenery every chance she gets, Mark has found himself in the middle of a three-ring circus.

But you don’t get to the Special Trials Unit without knowing how to walk through the fire, and it’s clear Mark isn’t going to back down from this. What he needs is something that he can punch back with legally—something that will cut through all the noise and show the other side he means business. Yet where is that going to come from (the surveillance tape wasn’t it) and will Mark find it before he burns himself out?

There’s a lot to uncover about where every character in All Rise is going, not just in terms of their cases but the direction they’re headed in their lives, and it starts with this episode.
