No, you did not read that wrong. This is the second-to-last episode of NCIS: LA. The finale airs next Sunday, and yes, that makes this one of the shortest seasons of the series. Due to the pandemic, filming got started late, but the intention was to get things back on track for the new season. That meant reducing the season order for filming purposes.

However, that doesn’t mean this latest episode is going to be one to miss. Kessler is back, which we all knew was going to happen eventually, right?

The last we saw Kessler, he made a deal that got him out of jail. He has an obsession with Kensi, and now he’s coming back for her. The good news is he doesn’t know where she works, but it won’t be that hard to get some information, including where her new house is.

One thing is certain: we’re going to see a return of the protective nature of Deeks. Usually, he’s the guy cracking the jokes, but not when his wife is in danger. He takes the threat of Kessler seriously, and so should we.

Joelle returns to help on NCIS: LA Season 12, Episode 17

Meanwhile, the team deals with a case of a Naval Intelligence Officer being tortured and murdered. This officer isn’t the first, and probably won’t be the last. Joelle has information about others who have gone missing, and she wants to help.

Chances are this is all connected to Katya. After all, that’s the main reason Joelle would want to get involved again. She wants revenge for everything that happened to her, and at least, she’s blaming the right people for what did happen to her!
