“Pilot” – Amanda Warren stars as Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood, the newly promoted boss of the 74th Precinct in East New York – a working-class neighborhood on the edge of Brooklyn in the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification. With family ties to the area, Haywood is determined to deploy creative methods to protect her beloved community with the help of her officers and detectives. But first, she has the daunting task of getting them on board, as some are skeptical of her promotion, and others resist the changes she is desperate to make. Her team includes her mentor, shrewd veteran two-star Chief John Suarez; Marvin Sandeford, a highly respected training officer and expert on the neighborhood; Tommy Killian, a detective with some old-school approaches to policing; Capt. Stan Yenko, Haywood’s gregarious and efficient right hand; Crystal Morales, an intuitive detective who can’t be intimidated; Andre Bentley, a trainee from an upper middle-class background; and ambitious patrol officer Brandy Quinlan, the sole volunteer to live in a local housing project as part of Haywood’s plan to bridge the gap between police and community. Regina Haywood has a vision: she and the squad of the 74th Precinct will not only serve their community – they’ll also become part of it, on the series premiere of EAST NEW YORK, Sunday, Oct. 2 (9:30-10:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*, before moving to its regular 9:00-10:00 PM time slot Oct. 9. CBS has a few new TV shows arriving this fall. East New York is one of them, and the series premiere airs tonight. Here’s all you need to watch live.

Every fall, we get new shows. CBS doesn’t disappoint when it comes to crime dramas, and we have a new cop show to check out tonight. After The Equalizer Season 3 premiere, we’ll get the series premiere of East New York.

Amanda Warren stars in this new series. It focuses on a new boss at a local district who needs to bring change if she wants to see success. Just the standard type of cop show, then, right?

What to expect on the East New York series premiere

This episode is going to introduce the series and the characters. Keep in mind that it’s made for the networks and not for us as the public. The second episode is created for us fully in mind. It’s worth giving a new show a couple of episodes to see if it’s for you.

East New York follows Regina Haywood, the new boss of the 74th Precinct. She wants to bring changes to help the police fit in more, and that’s important. This is an area where people don’t trust the cops at all. So, it all starts with cops moving into the area, and only one young cop is willing to do that.

A lot of people are skeptical of her plans. She also has support from some of them who would usually be overlooked for certain positions. Regina is all about doing things differently.

Check out the promo and synopsis for East New York:

"Amanda Warren is promoted to be boss of the 74th precinct in East New York, where she must get her crew on board — but some are skeptical of her promotion."
