The Company You Keep preview: Emma earns the truth about Charlie
The Company You Keep has a major episode this week that will put the key romance of the show in a dangerous spotlight.
The last episode of the ABC romantic thriller had Charlie and the family trying to outwit a professional fixer to get some intel on Daphne. It was touch and go, with the man nearly killing Leo, but Charlie was able to use his own blackmail material to get the guy to back down.
Meanwhile, Daphne herself was clashing with her half-brother while Emma’s brother, David, found aid in his Senate campaign from a shady source.
The big turn was Emma confessing she was in love with Charlie, but he couldn’t say it back. When he realized Daphne was targeting Emma, Charlie met her on the street, saying he loved her as well and then admitting he was working for Daphne.
That sets up this week’s episode as, at last, the couple is forced to lay their secrets bare.

“The Real Thing” looks to open with Emma finally learning who Charlie really is and his connection to Daphne. This has her naturally questioning how much of their relationship is for real.
Charlie will be distracted as Daphne wants the family to move from con games to theft by stealing a painting. That forces Birdie to reach out to her estranged ex, played by Geoff Stults, for some help.
Between the theft and Charlie and Emma facing the truth about who each other really is, this week’s episode should be the biggest yet for The Company You Keep.
