The Company You Keep preview: Charlie and Emma enter a new partnership
The Company You Keep has a new episode this week that throws a significant new direction for both the crime plotlines and the key romance of Charlie and Emma.
The last episode of the ABC drama opened with a moment that was building up since the show’s pilot. At last, Charlie came clean to Emma on how he and his family were con artists working for Daphne. Emma was naturally stunned, questioning everything she thought she knew about Charlie and angrily breaking up with him.
Charlie didn’t have long to nurse a broken heart as Daphne reached out to the family with a new plot. She wanted them to steal a priceless painting key to her plans. In order to pull the heist off, the family was forced to turn to Simon (Geoff Stults), Birdie’s ex and the father of Ollie.
Things were tense as Simon claimed to have changed and recovered from addiction, but the family was unsure of trusting him. He aided them in pulling off the heist, as something about the painting was important to Daphne.
Meanwhile, Emma and Daphne had a showdown with Emma thrown when Daphne showed evidence Emma’s father had a past affair with Claire Fox, the woman now managing David’s Senate campaign. Emma confronted her father, who figured out she was working for the CIA.
The big scene was the ending as Emma showed up at the bar to tell Charlie and his family that the only way to keep out of jail was to help her take down Daphne. Thus, this week has Charlie and Emma embark on a new direction for their relationship.

“Company Man” has a new dynamic as Charlie and the family are CIA assets which has Charlie trying to sway Daphne to his side. The promo indicates that while Emma insists she and Charlie are over, she naturally feels jealous seeing him with Daphne.
The synopsis also indicates Leo is keeping a secret about why Simon left, which may anger Birdie. The show is building toward its first season finale as this new twist on Charlie and Emma working together makes The Company You Keep a more exciting series than before.
