The exit of Toya Turner’s Kiana Cook means the introduction of a new character. The Night Agent’s Arienne Mandi has joined Chicago PD in season 13, and we’ve got to know a little about the role.
It looks like Intelligence Unit is going to face some changes with the new character. We’ve seen her character’s background once before, and it’s going to be interesting to see how things change with someone just out of the military.

Who will Arienne Mandi play in Chicago PD?
The Night Agent actress will take on the role of Officer Naomi Kerr in Chicago PD season 13. According to Deadline, Kerr is a former soldier and military contractor, which is a role we’ve sort of seen in the past. Halstead was former military before joining the police, bringing in that type of background to Intelligence.
However, it did feel like Halstead was out of the military long enough to focus on civilian life. Kerr has remained focused on a military lifestyle since leaving, offering her skills as a contractor. This could push into her role as a police officer.
On top of that, Kerr thrives in dangerous situations, which could see her putting herself forward to go undercover. It could take time for her to change her mindset as she has to work more with a team and keep other people safe.

It could take time for Kerr to fit in with the team
With her experiences in life, it shouldn’t be too surprising to learn that Kerr is someone who “keeps her cards close to the vest.” This could make for an interesting setup, as she likely won’t want to get to know her team members all that quickly, unlike Cook, who quickly got to know and bonded with Torres.
It’s hard to tell how everyone else will take that sort of character. We have seen something similar with Upton, who found it difficult to connect with Burgess and others, but she quickly formed a bond with Halstead and Voight. We could see Kerr forming a bond with someone like Torres or even Voight due to her background, but it’s likely to take some time.
At the same time, Kerr is coming into the team at a chaotic time. While Torres and Burgess seem to be off the hook for their indiscretions of the past, it’s only a matter of time before Kerr learns about it. On top of that, there’s still potential fallout from Voight orchestrating the murder of Deputy Chief Reid, and she’ll need to decide which side of that she’s on.
Chicago PD season 13 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 1 on NBC.
