As we get closer to the end of the year, we know that winter hiatuses are coming. However, they don’t usually happen until after Thanksgiving, but we are used to shows taking some time off for the lead-up to the holiday period.
We had originally expected new episodes of 911 and 911: Nashville to air tonight, Thursday, Nov. 20. In fact, based on the way the episodes were written, it’s likely that the writers even thought that they would get seven episodes before the winter break. Well, we have some bad news.

911 and Nashville are now on a break
There are no new episodes of 911 or 911: Nashville tonight, Thursday, Nov. 20. However, if you’ve missed out on a few episodes of 911: Nashville, there is some good news. ABC is opting for a full night of reruns of the new 911 spinoff series, trying to get more eyeballs on the soapy series.
This break doesn’t fully make sense. It is earlier than normal, and it’s not even a temporary one for Thanksgiving in a week. The two shows are on a break now for the rest of 2025.
One of the good things about the scheduling, though, is that both shows will be back much sooner than normal. They both return on Thursday, Jan. 8, so we’re not waiting until March this time!
What to expect when the 911 universe returns
When 911 season 9 returns, we will hopefully get an update about Hen. At the end of the previous episode, she went for a body scan to see why she was suffering from tremors. It all started with a rash, and it developed into her collapsing in her home. She didn’t want to share this with anyone right away, but she’s going to have to eventually.
Athena will be the first person she tells, but it will only be a matter of time before she has to open up to others. Hiding an illness in her job will put other lives on the line. While she doesn’t want this to be the end of her story, she can’t be selfish in all of this.
Meanwhile, 911: Nashville will see the city deal with its whole system being hacked. Terrorists —whether international or domestic, we don’t know yet — want money to release the system. Otherwise, they will create complete chaos, and we’ve only just seen the start of it at the end of 911: Nashville season 1 episode 6.
Get ready for the two shows to return on Thursday, Jan. 8 starting at 8/7c on ABC.
