A new month is here, and that means we’re ready for the crime dramas to return. September is usually when fall TV is back, and while some networks will return with new seasons, not all of them will. We have to wait until October for some of our favorites.
That’s okay, though, because there’s still plenty to check out. Streaming continues to have our backs. Of course, there’s still the Countdown season 1 finale, and there are more episodes of The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, but there’s a lot of new content to check out.
Lynley
If you’re a fan of British crime dramas like Sherlock, then you’ll want to turn to BritBox for Lynley. Based on the books by Elizabeth George, the series follows Thomas Lynley, who is a good detective, but is often pushed out and judged all because of his aristocratic background. When he ends up paired with Barbara Havers, a brash and feisty sergeant, there are a lot of questions about whether they can work as a team.
They soon find that opposites can work together well. They just need to learn how to rely on each other’s strengths and how to trust each other, and that all comes with time. There are four 90-minute episodes of Lynley to watch throughout September.
Lynley premieres on Thursday, Sept. 4 on BritBox.
Her Mother’s Killer season 2
If you love international crime dramas, then you’ll want to turn to Netflix for the next release. Her Mother’s Killer season 2 debuts on the streamer, picking up the story after the major cliffhangers of the first season.
There are high chances that you missed the first season of this. I know I did! If you love Revenge, you’re going to adore Her Mother’s Killer. It sees a woman return to her native Colombia after spending decades in Mexico as a political strategist to get revenge for her mother’s murder. Naturally, being a Colombia drama, it’s filled with soapy drama and plenty of episodes to work through.
Her Mother’s Killer season 2 drops on Monday, Sept. 8 on Netflix.

High Potential season 2
Fortunately, some of broadcast TV is making a comeback this month, and High Potential season 2 is one of the shows returning. We have a lot of questions after the way the first season ended, such as who the Game Master is and how difficult he will be for Morgan and the LAPD to take down.
On top of that, we have questions about Roman. Karadec has located him, and now it’s time to get some answers about why he went missing (and stayed missing!) for 15 years. He better have a good explanation for Morgan, Ava, and us!
High Potential season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 10/9c on ABC.

Murder in a Small Town season 2
Another sophomore show returning is Murder in a Small Town, with FOX opting for September premiere dates for most of its shows. There’s a lot to come, as Karl and Cassandra try to make their relationship work with their new focuses and both their needs to protect their town.
Of course, there are issues along the way. One of those is the murder rate within the town of Gibsons. There are multiple guest stars, such as Jamie Chung and Tyler Posey, coming into the second season, and Karl will need to get to the bottom of each murder.
Murder in a Small Town season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c on FOX.
Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent
Do you love Law & Order? Then you’ll want to check out the Canadian version of the story. Of course, this is one that you’ve wanted to check out for some time now, as two seasons have already aired in Canada! Not only do we get more “dun duns,” but also a look at the Canadian justice system.
The very first episodes sees Graff and Bateman investigate the disappearance of a crypto investor. He was supposed to be on a trip to Lake Ontario, but now he’s gone with no trace. On top of that, the hundreds of millions of dollars he’s invested for his clients are also missing.
Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on The CW.
If you need more Law & Order, there are also premieres of Law & Order season 25 and Law & Order season 27 on NBC on Thursday, Sept. 25.
Hotel Costiera
Out sixth crime drama to check out is back to the streaming networks. Hotel Costiera stars Jesse Williams as Daniel De Luca, a half-Italian, former U.S. Marine, who is now in Italy as one of the world’s most luxurious hotels’ fixer. His whole focus is to deal with any of the problems of the wealthy guests in the hotel.
Well, that and to find a missing person. Daniel needs to find out who kidnapped the daughter of one of the hotel’s owners and then tackle the situation in a way that he sees fit. This is going to be a much bigger issue than he planned to deal with at first.
Hotel Costiera premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 24 on Prime Video.
