The CW will bring a new version of Law & Order to our screens. Yes, really, The CW! It’s time for Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, and it’s coming this fall.

In fact, The CW has set the date for the first season, which has already filmed and aired in full in Canada. It will get a September premiere date, hitting just before NBC brings back its Law & Order franchise, and ahead of the other Dick Wolf franchise that it will go up against.

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent will air on Wednesdays

The CW has made an interesting decision by putting Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent on Wednesday nights. It will kick off Wednesday nights, which is great news for those worried that it would go up a similar show.

However, the decision is interesting. It will go up against the One Chicago lineup, but it could work out in the show’s favor. While there are Chicago PD fans out there, not everyone of them will want to watch an episode of Chicago Med. Maybe medical dramas aren’t their thing. If they’re already Law & Order fans, then they’ll want to check out the newer Canadian version, so will tune in on Wednesdays while waiting for Chicago PD on NBC.

On top of that, The CW will premiere Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent a week before the One Chicago premieres. Get Wednesday, Sept. 24 in your diary.

Take a look at Law & Order Toronto

The new series has now gained a CW trailer. This is pretty much similar to the trailer that Canadians gained when the series first premiered, giving us a quick snapshot of the main characters played by Kathleen Munroe and Aden Young. There’s also a look at a few guest stars, victims, and a theme of the series.

Overall, this is something for the Law & Order fans. It has a great feel of the original series, but it brings up the Canadian legal and justice system rather than what we’re used to. I always find that this helps to just add a new flair, as many people question how the justice system works and whether it’s right or not.

There are already two seasons of the series, with the second season set to air sometime in 2026 on The CW. If this release goes well, it could become another fall show for The CW to lean in.

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on The CW.
