We’ve waited long enough for Matlock season 2. The problem is that we still have a bit of a wait left on our hands, and now we need to find something else to watch. There are only so many times we can rewatch the same 19 episodes of the series.
The good news is Matlock brings vibes of a few shows out there. In fact, the original Matlock is certainly worth checking out, but here are five crime dramas that are worth turning to for similar mysteries, character development, and more.

Murder, She Wrote
When it comes to unassuming older women, Angela Lansbury proved that it’s a thing with Murder, She Wrote. She plays Jessica Fletcher, a mystery writer and amateur detective. Of course, nobody expects her to be looking into the cases, or even paying attention to some of the things that they say.
So, when there is a murder in the idyllic Cabot Cove, Maine, she ends up figuring a way to solve the mystery. She leaves no stone unturned, and she doesn’t allow a slight setback to stop her in her tracks. She also knows that sometimes you need to pull other people in on the mystery to solve it.

Tracker
Do you want the season-long mystery to solve? If so, you need to turn to the CBS show Tracker, starring Justin Hartley. This has its own murder mystery at the heart of it, with Hartley’s character Colter Shaw trying to figure out what happened to his dad many years ago.
Matlock does do the reveal a little better at the end of the first season. It’s taken two seasons just to get a small reveal about Colter’s father. However, the two shows bring up important points about working with other people, playing to your own strengths, and trusting people in your life.

Accused
Do you like the courtroom element of Matlock? Then you’ll want to turn to FOX’s Accused instead. Each of the episodes is a standalone story, meaning that you can watch them completely out of order and focus on the synopses that call to you the most.
The series gives us two timelines. We get to see the person accused of the crime in the courtroom, and then we see the story play out through a flashback story. However, we don’t get to know the crime right away, leaving for a lot of speculation and bias to come through during the episode, which makes it interesting.

Burden of Truth
The Canadian crime drama Burden of Truth is one that’s worth checking out when you want to see a woman fighting for what she believes is right. In this case, she’s going up against her own family, as she gets to the bottom of a cover-up that affected lives of many young women in town.
Each season brings a new case and a new focus. We also get to see how lives can change with the right person in your corner, and there’s an excellent roundup of storylines in the fourth and final season, as it was written as a final season.

Boston Legal
Finally, turn your attention to a legal drama rather than a crime drama. Boston Legal follows a corporate law firm in Boston that covers all sorts of cases, similar to Jacobson & Moore. We get a brilliant male friendship develop between the two leading men, played by William Shatner and James Spader, and then there are many others working at the law firm that help to secure a win.
Not every case ends in a win, and that’s one of the great things about it. At the same time, there are older actors taking on roles, showing us that older men and women can’t be overlooked, because if you underestimate them, they will come back to haunt you.
