There’s only so much time that a TV series has to develop storylines and characters. Some things have to be pushed to another season, and that’s the case for one particular High Potential storyline.
No, we’re not talking Roman or the Game Master. Instead, we’re looking at another part of Morgan’s personal life. It’s all about Ludo, who may have a reduced role in High Potential season 2.
Morgan’s backstory with Ludo will be explored in High Potential season 2
We know that there is some sort of backstory between Ludo and Morgan in High Potential. The two are great co-parents, and it’s clear that their breakup was on a somewhat understandable level. However, it’s also clear that Ludo still pines for his ex. Morgan just isn’t interested in him in that way.
In HPI, there is a storyline between Ludo and Morgane, which sees them getting back together as Morgane feels like she doesn’t have a chance with her new love interest, Karadec. We’re hoping that isn’t the route that High Potential will take, and instead, be respectful to the two characters the U.S. version has already created.
In some good news, it does look like the show will flesh out their backstory, though. When speaking with Gold Derby, showrunner Todd Harthan explained that there will be more time in High Potential season 2 to explore Ludo and Morgan’s backstory.
High Potential flashbacks could bring more answers to the mystery
It sounds like we’ll get more flashbacks to understand Morgan and Ludo’s relationship. This is a chance to see what worked and what didn’t, to understand why the two ended up breaking up. This will also help us understand how they became such great co-parents.
Could this also help to develop other mysteries and offer answers? Is it possible that Roman was always on Morgan’s mind, and Ludo couldn’t compete with a ghost? As the mystery of Roman is unraveled, so could the mystery of what happened between Morgan and Ludo.
There’s a lot to flesh out for Morgan’s backstory, as well. We know that her dad was also a HPI, and he pushed Morgan to only pursue things that mattered with her abilities. However, Morgan chose to break away from that, and there are a few things that she doesn’t like to talk about from her past. With the flashbacks, we could understand her better, especially as she goes on the hunt for the Game Master, another mystery to unravel.
High Potential season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 10/9c on ABC.
