It’s honestly getting to the point that the back and forth with Olympia and Matty comes to an end in Matlock season 2. There is hope of that in Matlock season 2 episode 6, but how long will that last?

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Matlock season 2 episode 6

The episode itself takes place over the course of four weeks, which is sure to help us jump ahead in the timeline when it comes to the upcoming break in the schedule. Matlock is going on a hiatus now, and it’s not exactly clear how long that hiatus will be. Hopefully, there are more episode in 2025.

Matty and Olympia work to secure votes to oust Senior in Matlock season 2 episode 6

I’m starting to hear Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton telling Alexander Hamilton that he doesn’t have the votes. When Eva comes to Olympia to tell her that it’s time to oust Senior, Olympia and Matty need to work on securing the votes from the board members to do it. While Olympia doesn’t approve of Matty’s methods, she manages to get the votes that they need.

That is until Eva delivers some bad news. One of them won’t switch, and now the duo need to work on securing another one from New York. So, it’s back to the two of them working on the board members again, and we find out at the end of Matlock season 2 episode 6 that they do, in fact, have the votes. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.

Senior has a task for Sarah

Meanwhile, Sarah has tasked Sarah with a job, and it’s got nothing to do with Matty. He wants Sarah to get photos of Julian’s datebook to see if he’s poaching clients. Sarah doesn’t really want to do it, but Senior isn’t exactly going to give her a choice.

She ends up working with Julian a few times in an attempt to get photos, but after three weeks, she still hasn’t managed to capture one photo. However, she doesn’t think Julian is poaching clients, and Julian even notes that he wouldn’t do that at one point. He likely knows what his dad thinks he’s up to, and he likely is up to it, as well. Julian just knows how to play the game a little bit.

Sarah finally gets photos that show Julian isn’t up to anything, but Senior isn’t convinced. Is this going to turn into a bigger storyline? Will it even get a chance to turn into something when Matty and Olympia have the votes to kick him out?

There is hope for Olympia and Matty

As all of this is going on, Matlock season 2 episode 6 also focuses on the friendship between Olympia and Matty. At the end of the previous episode, Olympia wasn’t sure she even wanted to be friends with Matty, heartbroken at the betrayal all this time.

Well, Matty tries her best to persuade Olympia otherwise, but she also knows when it’s time to step back. She does that throughout the case involving the nuns, which takes the whole four weeks to close (and it doesn’t fully go in the nuns’ favor). In the end, Olympia makes it clear to Matty that she has every right to be mad for as long as she wants.

This is hope that they can be friends, though. You don’t have any sort of feelings for people you don’t want to be friends with, and Olympia clearly wants to work through the anger to get to the acceptance. Hate isn’t the opposite of love; not caring is the opposite, and it doesn’t look like Olympia wants to get to that point.

The problem is the series is focusing too much on the back and forth between Olympia and Matty, and at this point, it’s annoying and boring. Matlock needs to step things up!

Matlock airs on Thursdays at 9/8c on CBS, but it is taking a short hiatus.
