Despite the bad news on Friday, May 9 about Found and The Irrational, NBC has brought us some good news about The Hunting Party. The Melissa Roxburgh series is coming back for a second season, which is great news after that shocking cliffhanger at the end of season 1.
I’m still extremely salty about Found’s cancellation. That’s a show that I need to see saved by another network. However, it is exciting news about The Hunting Party, as not only will it get a season 2, but it’s also going to get more episodes.
The Hunting Party season 2 will be extended
The first season had just 10 episodes to tell the story. That was great for a midseason series, and it helped to keep things contained to ensure the mystery of The Pit was the biggest overarching story. Yet, we would love to see more, and NBC agrees with that.
The Hunting Party season 2 will have 18 to 22 episodes, with the exact number confirmed at a later day. Yes, that means it is moving to the fall, which brings some mixed feelings for me. After all, moving a middling midseason series to the fall can lead to it being canceled, but I want to hope that the series has a loyal enough following to keep people tuned in.
One thing NBC did note is that The Hunting Party was consistent in viewership, both in terms of linear and streaming numbers, throughout its season. This is what helped secure a second season compared to Found.

The Hunting Party will take Found’s timeslot
Now for something that has ben very worried about the future of The Hunting Party. The first season aired on Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, but it took that timeslot over from Brilliant Minds. Well, the medical drama has also been renewed, and it will return in the fall in that timeslot. The two shows can’t air on the same network at the same time.
Instead, The Hunting Party season 2 will air on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Found fans definitely know that timeslot! It’s the one that the Shanola Hampton series moved to for season 2, behind the Law & Order shows. This is a tricky timeslot, with multiple networks struggling with it. I fear that this could mean the ratings dip in The Hunting Party season 2, so we need to remain focused on watching live.
The Hunting Party is available to stream on Peacock.
