Out of all the NCIS shows in fall 2025, NCIS: Origins has become must-watch viewing. The series continues to go from strength to strength, and now we’re ready for a new episode.

There is some bad news for tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 16. Despite NCIS and NCIS: Sydney airing new episodes, there isn’t a new episode of NCIS: Origins. That’s because the series aired its fall finale a week earlier, on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

It was certainly an impactful episode, which ended with Gibbs getting married and a look at how Lala sees her CIs.

What’s on instead of NCIS: Origins tonight?

Instead of a new episode, the middle timeslot will see the NCIS: Sydney season 3 fall finale air. It makes sense to pull this show forward an hour; otherwise, viewers won’t tune in for it, believing only NCIS to be new.

However, for those looking for an episode of NCIS: Origins, then you’ll want to wait until 10 p.m. ET/PT. There is a rerun of the NCIS: Origins season 2 premiere. After a long summer break, we had a lot of questions about Lala. Fortunately, she survived the car crash, and the premiere focused on her return to the team. It links beautifully to the fall finale, as we find out why she started rehab in the pool and why she started going to church.

When will NCIS: Origins return with new episodes?

With the previous episode being the fall finale, eyes are on how long the break is going to be. This is where we have some bad news, as CBS is holding off the returns until February 2026.

NCIS: Origins season 2 episode 9 will air on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 9/8c on CBS. It’s the only network holding shows back until February, but there is a genuine reason for this. The Winter Olympics will take up most of the airtime in February, and CBS doesn’t want to bring shows back in January just for them to go on another break in February.

This is going to be a good thing on the other side of the break, as well. With a longer wait for shows to return, it means there are more episodes to fill the weeks until May finales. This means fewer week breaks here and there in the schedule, so we get a consistent run of episodes. While it feels like this break is long, it’s going to be worth it for a consistent schedule between February and May.

NCIS: Origins is available to stream on Paramount+.
