As we bring another year to a close, we look at what’s to come in the future. 2025 will bring a bunch of new TV crime dramas, both on broadcast and on streaming.
For this post, we’re only looking at the new shows. That means those that are freshman shows, rather than new seasons of current shows. We’re looking across the platforms, whether it’s all about broadcast—which still has life—or streaming.
The Hunting Party
We start with a show that will arrive in early February. The Hunting Party is a must for those who want a slightly grittier drama compared to the likes of The Rookie and NCIS. It’s also perfect for Manifest fans, as Melissa Roxburgh takes the lead.
She plays Bex, a former government agent who is called in to help with a top-secret mission. A prison that nobody knew about has had an incident with inmates able to escape. These are some of America’s most dangerous inmates, and now Bex and her team will need to get them all back, protect the public, and keep this prison a secret.
The Hunting Party will premiere on Monday, Feb. 3 at 10/9c on NBC.
On Call
Prime Video will bring a new Wolf Entertainment series, starring Troian Bellisario. This series sees her take on the role of a veteran cop, Traci Harmon, who is struggling to find her place in the department. Her colleagues don’t trust her, and that lack of trust is being passed onto the rookies.
What about her rookie? She has to train Alex Diaz, a man just out of the Academy who is eager to take to the streets. While teaching him how to have her back and to stay alive, she also needs to teach him how to cope with the things he sees on the job. Nobody prepares you for some of the job as a cop.
On Call drops on Prime Video on Thursday, Jan. 9 in full.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society
Another broadcast show we can’t wait to see is Grosse Pointe Garden Society. This is one of those TV crime dramas with more of a dramedy focus by the looks of the synopsis. There’s almost an element of Desperate Housewives within the feel of the show.
It follows four members of the local garden club in a wealthy suburb. Of course, they are pulled into a scandalous murder, and now they need to work together to find out who did it and why. Will it be one of their own club, or is there someone dangerous lurking out there?
Grosse Pointe Garden Society premieres on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 10/9c on NBC.
Lockerbie: A Search for the Truth
How about something that is based on truth? There are some great TV crime dramas out there, and the one in 2025 we’re most looking forward to is Lockerbie: A Search for the Truth. The series stars Colin Firth as Jim Swire, who was the man who pushed for answers when it came to the Lockerbie bombing.
Jim was the father of one of the victims as the plane crashed to the ground. It’s a terrorist attack that will never be forgotten, changing the lives of hundreds of people. However, the authorities weren’t forthcoming with answers at first, which led to the push for the truth.
Lockerbie: A Search for the Truth is coming to Peacock on Thursday, Jan. 2.
