Will Trent season 3 had some huge changes for Angie, so just what can happen to her when season 4 of the hit ABC drama returns?
Will Trent has remained one of ABC’s highest-rated and popular shows. Fans just can’t get enough of the eccentric GBI detective solving tough cases while wrestling with his personal problems. That includes Will’s long-time relationship with childhood friend turned lover Anige Polaski (Erika Christensen). They’ve been together, but that ended when Will had to arrest Angie for covering up a murder in the season 3 finale.
It’ll be a long wait for season 4 of the drama as ABC has delayed it until 2026. But that gives us more time to prepare for Angie to go through some major changes in her life that can also lead to more drama when the show does return!

What happened to Angie in Will Trent season 3?
As season 3 began, Angie had managed to avoid going to prison but was suspended from the Atlanta PD. She was working security at a small neighborhood golf course while also on the major outs with Will over the whole arrest.
As it happened, Angie was able to uncover a kidnapping and catch a killer, which got her reinstated in the Atlanta PD. She also met up with handsome doctor Seth (Scott Foley) and the pair soon had a romance. Angie endured the heartbreak of her distant and alcoholic mother dying while also discovering she was pregnant.
The wild season 3 finale had Angie having to defend the GBI station from an attacking militia, worried she miscarried in the fight. Thankfully, she was okay with Seth overjoyed to find out he was going to be a father. That was a big turn for Angie and leads to the question of what season 4 can bring to her.

What’s coming for Angie in Will Trent season 4?
A question is if Will Trent season 4 picks up right where we left off or if they decide to do a time jump. In which case, Angie might be close to giving birth while still insisting on working cases. She seems more open to becoming a mom as she is worried, given her many problems. However, Angie also seems determined not to make the mistakes with her child that Angie’s mom made with her.
Speaking to TV Insider, co-creators Liz Heldens and Daniel T. Thomsen discussed some of the season 4 plans, including how Angie is moving on from Will.
“To me, what we were trying to accomplish was just the idea that Angie needs to see what I think a lot of us see — speaking as viewers — that she is worthy of whatever she wants out of life, and if that’s your baby, she can do it. And I think that she just has taken longer to catch up to that reality than some of the rest of us who kind of watch her a little bit more objectively.”
There is the worry of something going wrong with the pregnancy to add more trauma to Angie’s life. However, it sounds like the writers are serious about having her raise a child, even as she continues to be a cop. Motherhood can give Angie insight into cases even if she’s a bit softened by her child. There’s a question if she and Seth tie the knot or just keep up as parents as Angie may not want to jump into marriage yet.
Angie and Will’s relationship will be tricky as they deeply care for each other, but it’s uncertain if that’s a romantic love anymore. An obvious idea would be Angie asking Will to be her child’s godfather, a role he’d be perfect for. The pair actually seem better off as just friends rather than lovers and that can be good for Angie.
Indeed, season 3 showed a great journey for Angie, hitting bottom but fighting her way back up, redeeming herself to get back her job, land a good guy, and now preparing to be a mother. That’s some great stuff for season 4 to explore and hopefully let Angie continue to grow when Will Trent returns.
Will Trent season 4 premieres on ABC in 2026.
