As we got into the mystery of who hid the study in Matlock, it became clear that it had to be Julian. Proving it was a bit difficult, but it finally happened in the season 1 finale. And with the way the episode ended, Julian has to be back in Matlock season 2.
We were a little worried that Julian would end up leaving the series at the end of the first season. For one, we were so sure that he was guilty, that we thought the end of the first season would see him arrested. Secondly, Jason Ritter has joined the cast of HBO’s Lanterns, although in a recurring role.
Well, there’s some great news for Ritter fans. Julian will be back, and we take a look at what could be next for him in Matlock season 2.
Julian will need to decide what to do about Olympia in Matlock season 2
The first season finale ended with a cliffhanger. Olympia found out that Julian had hidden the study, which could have helped save Ellie’s life. He put it in a safe deposit box, and now that Olympia has her hands on it, he’ll need to consider what he’s going to do next. Will he have the guts to do something like kill his ex-wife?
That doesn’t seem likely, but desperate people do wild things. However, he’ll likely play to the fact that he’s the father of Olympia’s children. It looked like he had her convinced that they could all walk away from this in Matlock season 1, but there’s time for Olympia to decide justice and truth has to prevail.
However, it’s possible that Olympia could end up using the document to her advantage. She has her ex-husband in a great position if she wants to use it for leverage. She already has the partnership, but could she gain more with Julian forced to do her bidding?
Julian has quit the firm in Matlock
Something to keep in mind is that Julian has quit the firm. After Olympia got the partner position, Julian knew that he couldn’t work there anymore. The two also had a deal that whoever didn’t get the position would quit, and he is honoring that deal. How long for, though? And what comes next for him?
He’ll need to get a good reference to work somewhere else. There will be a lot of questions about why he’s quit the firm his dad runs. And it could take time to find a new place to work. However, it will be fun to see Julian go up against members of the firm in the court.
Before that can happen, the cliffhanger with Olympia needs to be resolved. Just how will he get out of this situation, or will he end up going to jail after all?
