There won't be any more new episodes of High Potential in 2025 (but we have a return date)

There is a little bit of bad news when it comes to High Potential. As you will have noticed, there wasn’t a new episode last night, Tuesday, Nov. 4. Well, the show is on a break.

As we mentioned, it isn’t just a short break before the next episode. High Potential season 2 episode 7 was the fall finale, much earlier than we would like, and much earlier than we tend to be used to with fall shows. However, the series did arrive earlier than other shows on broadcast networks right now, so I guess we shouldn’t be so shocked.

It brings an end to new episodes of High Potential in 2025. We’ll have to wait until the new year, and the good news is we’re not waiting too long.

High Potential season 2 is back in January

Just like with the first season, High Potential season 2’s winter premiere will happen in January. Also, just like the first season, it will remain on Tuesdays but move to a slightly earlier timeslot. Tuesday nights on ABC are about to become all about the quirky crime dramas, with High Potential sandwiched in between Will Trent and The Rookie.

High Potential season 2 episode 8 will air on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 9/8c. Make sure you have that date in your diary, because it’s the night that all three of the Tuesday shows will return with new episodes.

I know in January 2025, it seemed like the series was just back from winter break and then went off the air again. It won’t feel like that in 2026. In some exciting news, there are more episodes, with 18 planned in High Potential season 2. That means there are 11 episodes to air throughout the winter and spring.

What to expect in High Potential season 2 episode 8

The winter premiere will pick up off the back of the fall finale, which saw Morgan find out that Rhys is possibly Jean Baptiste. We know from the promo that Morgan is going to tell Karadec this, and that will mean having to explain how she saw the gunshot wounds on Rhys’s shoulder. The way she found out doesn’t really matter, though, as they need to figure out who stole the painting and who killed the curator.

Of course, the suspicion will lie on Rhys. However, he couldn’t be in two places at once, which means there is either someone else working with him, or that he’s the red herring of the plot. It makes for an exciting arc as the show returns.

What I would like to see is Daphne and Oz used more in the episodes. There was a promise that we would get to see more of them and learn more of them in season 2, and so far, they have been underused just like in the first season.

High Potential season 2 returns on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 9/8c on ABC.
