Alex continues to prove she's the smartest person in Snowpiercer
While Alex was still young and somewhat naïve when we first met her, she quickly made it clear that she is the smartest person in any room in Snowpiercer. Even now, she continues to prove that she is a step or two ahead of people.
She doesn’t take things at face value. When someone tells her something, she will do her own research and she will figure things out for herself. After Nima told her about Big Alice getting away, Alex headed down to see where the manual uncoupling was. It was soon clear that an engineer had to go outside to uncouple the trains, and there were no suits to protect from the cold.
That meant one thing: Ben had to have done it. Nima admitted that, and it led to Nima admitting a few things. Of course, Alex had to go to investigate.
Did Alex know that Layton and others may be trapped in the basement in Snowpiercer?
Nima didn’t say a lot about the other people from Big Alice. Alex wanted to know about Layton and Josie, but he said nothing. After admitting that part of the silo had been closed off due to experiments going wrong, Alex likely knew that Layton and/or Josie were being kept down there.
It didn’t take her long to figure out how to switch wristbands so that she could get into the basement. The problem is that Nima is also smart. He knew that Alex would be up to something and checked on the wristbands to see what had happened.
Alex surely thought of this, though, right? She didn’t just go down to the basement believing that she would be fine, did she? Did she really think that Nima wouldn’t notice something or wonder if she switched wristbands? She’s been around Wilford long enough to know not to trust people and not to think they’re not planning ahead as well.
At least in the basement of the silo, she’s not alone. She is around Wilford, and the two of them will be able to find a way out when it comes to it in Snowpiercer.
