Could Rojas return in Chicago PD Season 12 to take Upton's place?

We know that Intelligence members come and go. Not only would this be realistic in life, but it also makes sense considering Chicago PD is a long-running show and actors leave. However, some exits make little sense.

The most recent exit was in the form of Upton, as Tracy Spiridakos decided it was time for her to leave. This led to a season-long arc for Upton to realize that she deserved more in her life. We have no idea where she’s gone off to exactly, but she seems to be at peace and happy with her decision.

It just now opens up a spot on Intelligence. Could this be a chance to right a wrong when it comes to exits? Probably not!

What happened to Rojas on Chicago PD?

Do you remember Rojas on Chicago PD? If you don’t, that’s probably not surprising considering the show’s treatment of the character. She came into Season 7 of the series, the season that was abruptly cut short due to the pandemic. It looked like there was a chance for her character to grow in Season 8, and then suddenly, the show decided to cut the character.

The character’s exit wasn’t even explained. It’s like the show wants everyone to forget about her, which is just one of the reasons she likely won’t return. How would the series explain just writing her out and never mentioning her?

Lisseth Chavez is a series regular on The Rookie

Rojas was played by Lisseth Chavez, who went onto other roles after the cop drama. One of those was as a rookie cop on The Rookie. After initially coming in as a recurring guest star, Chavez was upped to series regular for Season 6.

She will be around for Season 7, and the series will start production in June. That’s when Chicago PD will also start production. There is no way that Chavez can pull double duty, especially with one show filming in Chicago and the other filming in LA. And why would Chavez choose to return to a series that treated her so poorly?

So no, Rojas likely won’t return to take Upton’s spot in Chicago PD Season 12. I’m still looking at Petrovic taking the spot.
