911 is coming back to ABC in September 2024 and the excitement is palpable! The hit show starring Angela Bassett and Peter Krause is now in season 8 and shows no signs of pumping the brakes. While we are still waiting to learn more about what to expect when the show returns, what do we know so far about season 8?

When season 7 finished, Bobby and Athena survived a deadly house fire as Eddie faced losing his son, Christopher, after he met a woman who was a dead-ringer for his late wife. Plus, Hen and Karen were happily surprised when Maddie and Chimney became emergency foster parents to provide placement for their daughter, Mara, after a city councilwoman interrupted their adoption proceedings.

Plus, after an amazing arc where Buck realized he was bisexual, we got to see him in the beginning stages of a relationship with Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), who is a firefighter/pilot with the 217 and previously worked with his crew. Then, it looked like Bobby was coming back to work, until we discovered that Captain Vincent Gerrard (Brian Thompson) was his replacement.

Bobby had originally resigned during a bout of depression and it looked like despite him changing his mind, Gerrard ended up replacing him. Fans may recall Gerrard was the captain who worked there before Bobby and created a hostile environment while Hen, Chimney, and Tommy were there.

What do we know about the season 8 of 911?

Since production began on the show in July, there has not been much released about what we can expect when the show returns on Thursday, Sept. 26. However, based on the teaser that ABC released, the opening disaster will involve bees. More specifically, it might be a tornado of bees, aka a bee-nado!

Even though we don’t know if any of the main characters are allergic to bees and will need to be extra careful, we are curious to see how they will handle this particular emergency. Once the trailer is released, we will likely get an idea of what else will await the 118 when season 8 begins.

We also know based on the season 7 finale that Chimney and Maddie will be helping to raise Mara as foster parents until they figure out how to prevent Councilwoman Olivia Ortiz (Veronica Falcón) from using her as a pawn in her revenge against Hen. In the first episode of season 7, Ortiz’s son died after refusing care from Chimney due to an accident he caused. Since then, she has been using her position to create havoc in the Wilson’s lives.

Bobby and Athena will likely be looking for a new home after their house burned down in the season 7 finale. Plus, they may need to work on their communication since it is clear they still have some things to discuss when it comes to being open with one another.

The only thing we know so far about Eddie this season is that he has acquired a moustache. In behind the scenes footage from the 911 Instagram account, Eddie’s moustache has clearly taken the cast and crew by storm. Is Eddie’s new moustache the result of him dealing with his personal trauma, especially in the aftermath of his son going back to Texas with his grandparents?

Buck will also very likely be continuing his journey in exploring his newfound bisexuality. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed that Lou Ferrigno Jr. is returning in his role as Tommy, Buck’s boyfriend in season 7, we expect that we will continue to see Buck learning more about himself and who he is going forward. We’re excited to follow Buck along on his journey in a longer season that will be able to give time and care to all of the storylines we’re looking forward to seeing play out.
