There are a few new TV crime dramas heading our way this fall, and ABC has another quirky one. It’s all about High Potential, based on the French series Haute Potential Intellectuel.
One thing we knew about the series was that we’d follow a cleaning lady who ends up putting evidence in the right order to help the cops solve a murder. Now she’s called in to help with other cases, and not everyone likes that.
Well, the first trailer for the series tells us how she puts everything in the right order. We also see that she doesn’t initially jump at the chance to be a consultant, and she isn’t your standard single mom.

It’s clear that ABC likes “different.” This show is certainly that, with Kaitlin Olson playing a single mom who is fashionable and trendy. She may have three kids to feed on a cleaner’s salary, but she will always dress the part. This could be the unrealistic element for the story, but doesn’t all fiction have this?
She also likes to work by herself. It means she can put on her music and dance away. One night, this leads to her knocking over a case file. As she’s picking it all back up, she notices something that the cops didn’t. The suspect isn’t the suspect at all. She is a victim.
That could make the detectives’ work harder, but she’s around to help. She’ll be able to see the rest of the evidence, as she points out throughout the trailer when she’s looking at other cases. She can spot things that others can’t, and she has to do something about it when the cops get it wrong.
She doesn’t want to work with the cops, though. With her IQ and her dislike for cops, it suggests that she has some sort of backstory that involves a run-in with the cops. What is her secret?
