This can't be the last we've seen of Voit in Criminal Minds: Evolution
Zach Gilford has been a wonderful addition to Criminal Minds: Evolution as Elias Voit. This is a criminal mastermind, who is always three steps ahead of everyone else. You can’t tell me that the Season 2 finale is the last we’ve seen of him.
The episode ended with Voit being moved to Gen Pop. It was all part of the deals he’d made throughout the season, and Luke just knows that there is a reason for this. Voit may be a social creature, but he also enjoys isolation because he has time to think. Wanting to be moved to Gen Pop makes it clear that he is up to something.
Well, the ending brings us that potential something. There’s a fight in the laundry room, with Voit getting shanked.
Did Voit plan the attack in Criminal Minds: Evolution?
It definitely makes sense that Voit wanted to move to Gen Pop for a reason. That reason is likely linked to escaping prison. He doesn’t want to remain there, so he needs to find a way out. Where is there less security? In a hospital, of course.
While a lot of prisons have their own medical wings, there are times that prisoners need to go to a general hospital. This could be one of those cases, giving Voit an opportunity to get out of jail. There’s less security in the hospital, helping him escape.
This would suggest that he planned the attack on him in the laundry room. He’d need to find a couple of inmates who were willing to extend their sentences, which wouldn’t be too hard if someone is already serving multiple life sentences with no chance of parole. Then everything would need to be set up so it looked like he was being targeted.
The problem is that he’d be injured while trying to escape. So, instead of being taken to a hospital to escape, is it possible that he’s planned for his lawyer to have him moved elsewhere “for his safety?” This could open it up for him to be able to escape. His lawyer knows that he has done some shady business to need immunity for his own actions, and this could be part of that.
There is no way that we’ve seen the last of Voit. I can’t see Criminal Minds: Evolution killing him off. Instead, I suspect we’ll have a season with Voit on the run.
