After months of being delayed, Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 kicked off with Stabler returning after several months on a long-term undercover assignment. He found the squad still dealing with the death of Whelan as Bell was reluctant to fill out his slot.

Bell did reach out to Dr. Kyle Vargas, the pioneer of a new artificial intelligence program Bell believed could aid the squad. Stabler was more dubious but distracted by how his mother, Bernadette, was still having health issues.

Reyes and Jet went undercover to check out a truck used in a drug lab, only for Jet to nearly pass out, making everyone realize the lab was mobile. They found the workers murdered and further twists before a wild firefight with both Stabler and Reyes nearly killed.

The aftermath was intriguing as Reyes went to Jet's place, and it was clear the pair had been secretly hooking up for some time. Meanwhile, Stabler had to handle Bernadette asking about his brother Randall.

That sets up the new episode, which promises major insight into Stabler's past.

The promo for "Deliver Us From Evil" features some notable faces, the biggest being Dean Norris as Stabler's older brother, Randall.

"After a deadly bombing claims the life of a spiritual leader, Stabler meets with an officer who's convinced the crime is part of a larger conspiracy. Tensions rise within the task force as Jet struggles to get her team on board with Vargas' program. Stabler welcomes his older brother to town. "

A fun surprise is the trailer showing former SVU medical examiner Melinda Warner (Tamara Tunie), who looks to be helping on the case. The episode sounds like it will play on Jet wanting to use Vargas' program and a tough case yet a major focus on Stabler's family issues.

Between the family problems and the powerful cases, it looks like Season 4 of Law & Order: Organized Crime is making up for lost time with plenty of drama.

Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 airs Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC and streams on Peacock the following day.
