There's more clarity over Murder in a Small Town's schedule on Fox
There are a lot of changes to the TV schedule this fall. It should be a fall with stability, but politics is changing a lot. The Vice Presidential Debate is set for Tuesday, Oct. 1, and it’s meant a few changes. It’s good news for those ready for Murder in a Small Town, though.
The news of the schedule change first came with the announcement that the Accused Season 2 premiere would be preempted by a week. It will now air on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Yet, the premiere for Murder in a Small Town was still going to air on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Would the new Canadian drama have a week off straight after its premiere? We know that isn’t a sound decision to make, but that’s not what Fox is doing at all.
Murder in a Small Town will precede the debate on Fox
Due to the debate starting at 9 p.m. ET, Fox has opted to keep the Murder in a Small Town schedule consistent. That’s a good sign for the show. The network wants to see it succeed, and consistency is important for that.
Instead of preempting the series by a week after the premiere just aired, Fox has opted to push the Accused Season 2 premiere and pull Murder in a Small Town forward to 8 p.m. ET/PT, ahead of the debate.
The following week, the schedule will go to the intended one for the fall. Accused will air in the 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot, and then the third episode of Murder in a Small Town will air in the 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot.
We will be keeping an eye on any other plans for debates. It looks like the potential Presidential Debates are going to happen in September rather than October. This shouldn’t affect the Fox schedule unless something falls on Tuesday, Sept. 24. As of right now, that date is remaining free from politics.
