NCIS Season 21 DVD review: Take a look at what you get on the boxset
The end of the summer brings the DVD releases of our favorite broadcast shows. NCIS Season 21 come to DVD on Tuesday, Aug. 13. We got a copy to be able to share a review. This is one that you’ll want to grab.
NCIS Season 21 picked up with the team trying to help Torres. The last we saw of him at the end of Season 20 was he had found someone connected to his past. He was ready to give up his career and freedom for revenge, but in the end he didn’t go through with it. That didn’t stop the man from turning up dead, and all evidence pointed at Torres.
The season also brought us the death of Ducky. David McCallum died in September 2023, and the only way to honor that in the show was to kill off Ducky. The show did it in the best way possible, bringing a beautiful tribute episode and a last case for Ducky to help solve—and no, it wasn’t his own!
NCIS Season 21 DVD review
As you would expect, the NCIS Season 21 DVD includes all 10 episodes of the season. Yes, there were only 10 episodes due to the strike action throughout the summer of 2023.
There are more than 30 minutes of bonus features included, though. My favorite is Farewell, Ducky: Celebrating David McCallum. McCallum was the last OG cast member of the series left, and he was such a huge part of the story. Even though we saw less and less of Ducky over recent years, he was still at the heart of the series. Of course, the show had to put together a farewell featurette, and it’s so beautifully done. I don’t want to share spoilers because I do believe you need to watch this with fresh eyes first.
There’s also a look at the stunts for the series. This is a fun featurette to see how the stunts are managed, whether it’s fight scenes or car chases. The Season 21 finale certainly included some major stunt work as Knight and Palmer were trapped on the ship that was sent to sink.
There’s also a featurette called Ruah’s Rules, which is a look at the rules she sets up when directing episodes. Most specifically, it’s a look at the rules she set up for directing the episodes of NCIS and NCIS: Hawaii this season. I love Daniela Ruah, so getting to see her in action behind the camera and explain her process is a lot of fun.
Other featurettes are:
