Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 4 reveals secrets about the Animal Squad
There is clearly something wrong with members of the Animal Squad in Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 4. We now get an insight into what that could be.
Caution: This post contains spoilers for Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 4.
The Animal Squad members haven’t once shown their faces. They are always in their full suits, and it’s clear that something is keeping them alive. We watched in the second episode as one of them changed the cannisters in their suit, and at the end of that episode, we saw the black smoke poison Audrey in some way.
Now we have learned a little more about what that is. It seems to be some sort of chemical.
Nima caused the problems for the Animal Squad in Snowpiercer
During Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 4, Nima came across a member of the Animal Squad while he tried to help Layton and Josie. He shared that he knows the Animal Squad doesn’t like him, hinting that he is the one that created the whole problem.
This is starting to make a lot of sense. Nima is a chemist. We know that he has created something called the Gemini Gas, and it turns out that this is likely deadly. Was there another variant of it that formed the Animal Squad?
Nima talks to the Animal Squad guy about burn marks and problems with the respiratory system. The black gas seems to be something needed to help with the Squad’s breathing abilities, potentially preventing whatever the chemical is from causing the respiratory system from shutting down. However, the black gas seems to affect others’ respiratory systems if breathed in, which suggests that Audrey could end up dying from this sort of poison.
The burn marks are chemical. Ben worked that out when he saw the burn marks on Till’s arms. We’ve seen the burn marks all over one of the dead members of the Animal Squad, and there were some on the neck of the guy Nima was talking to. This suggests that the burn marks Audrey has on her face are also chemical.
Is this a way to take out the Animal Squad in Snowpiercer?
This is all good to know. It looks like the Animal Squad can’t survive without their cannisters. If this is the case, the train could take over by forcing the Animal Squad to take off their masks.
Alternatively, it could be the truth about this chemical and the experiment that helps take Milius down. It’s likely that the chemical was used to help find a way for people to survive in the deep freeze. Instead, it’s made life difficult for the members of the Animal Squad, and they blame Nima for that. What’s the betting that Milius arranged for it all to happen, and he’s the one they should really be angry with? Could the Animal Squad end up turning on him as the truth comes out?
