Just a day after announcing Melissa Roxburgh would star in the new series The Hunting Party, NBC has some disappointing news. The new series will not be part of the fall 2024 schedule.

The series is still happening right now. It did receive a straight-to-series order, but it just won’t arrive in the fall. This isn’t all that surprising if casting is only just happening now. It’s also a new series, and NBC will want to hold some new shows to the midseason.

Instead, NBC will debut Brilliant Minds as the new drama for the fall. This was previously titled Dr. Wolf, and it is a true life-inspired medical drama. There simply wasn’t the room in the schedule for another new drama. The other two new series are comedies that will join The Night Court on Tuesdays and Lopez vs. Lopez on Fridays.

When could The Hunting Party premiere on NBC?

Unlike CBS, NBC hasn’t announced spring plans. That’s not surprising since it has two shows still in contention. Suits: LA and Grosse Pointe Gardening Society are still in the pilot stages and are awaiting series orders.

Without confirmation, the earliest we’re looking at The Hunting Party to arrive in January 2025. This will depend on whether there is room in the schedule as shows come back from winter break. We may have to wait until March 2025 as some of the other shows wrap up their seasons.

Depending on the episode counts of The Irrational and Found, we could see The Hunting Party take one of those spots. Based on the series premise involving dangerous killers escaping a top-secret prison, it does seem like Thursdays after the two Law & Order shows would make the most sense. This is the timeslot Found is getting this year as Law & Order: Organized Crime moves to Peacock.
