While Dana is worried that Em took her own life, she is sure that she didn’t. However, she needs to figure out what happened to her the night she died in Revival season 1, episode 3.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Revival season 1, episode 3.

One of the benefits of meeting another Reviver is that Em can learn a few more things about signs of death. Em learns that Kaleb Horn died of an infection. He stabbed himself in the hand while cutting an avocado, and it got infected and killed him. He even has a cool scar to show off.

This leads to Em realizing that she didn’t jump off the bridge the night she died. If she did, then she would have a tone of broken bones now. Only the injuries after death are healing. So, she needs to go to the bridge to see if she can remember anything that happened that night.

Kaleb encourages Em to live a little in Revival season 1, episode 3

It’s ironic that it takes death for someone to be able to live, but that’s the case for Kaleb and Em. Kaleb is wild, often cutting himself and removing organs in the middle of his concerts. He can heal, and he loves to be able to show this power.

Well, Em has never really had a chance to live. Her brittle bone disorder means that she’s had to be wrapped up in cotton wool the whole time. Kaleb wants her to live instead, and he encourages her to jump off the bridge she was on the night she died when Revival began.

This helps to trigger some memories. She’s been able to work out small things, and she’s been drawing what she can remember, but so far, she hasn’t remembered enough. As she gets to the bridge, she realizes that there was another man there with her.

That man is very much a problem in the town right now in Revival season 1, episode 3.

Dana tries to figure out her sister’s killer in Revival

Dana doesn’t fully accept that her sister tried to kill herself, and she is more than willing to hear Em’s roommate tell a story of stealing drugs, which likely led to Em’s death. It takes Dana to the house of known drug dealers, where the mom seems completely oblivious to what her sons are doing.

One of her sons is stuck outside the town lines, which is something she can use to her advantage. After the middle brother mentions that Dana won’t be the first Cyrpress to die, Dana immediately suspects that one of the brothers killed her sister. So, she sets up a way to bring the younger brother in, forcing him to call his stuck-outside-the-town-limits to call a truce between the two families.

After all, the youngest brother has two felonies already, and now he’s been caught with drugs (even if they’re not his), he will end up doing hard time. He doesn’t want that, and neither does the eldest brother.

However, these brothers are quick to point out that they didn’t kill Em. The middle brother likely meant their mom, which is, arguably, who I thought at first as well. It doesn’t matter, though, the eldest brother is willing to make a deal. The families will have a truce between them, but Dana is no closer to figuring out who killed her sister.

Wayne has to deal with a growing Abel problem in Revival

While all this is going on, Ramin wants to figure out why the Reviver from episode 2 acted so aggressively. The best way to get to the bottom of that is to take a trip to the farm, and Wayne goes with him. It’s a good thing that Wayne is there, because I have a feeling Ramin would have been shot.

It turned out that the husband had tied up his mother-in-law. She was also mentally ill, probably before her death, and that likely attributed to her problems bring brought back to life. I can’t get over the idea that the husband likely killed her, viewing her as a burden, and it’s no wonder this woman wanted him dead.

After all, at the funeral, the Reviver shows up and kills her son-in-law, and then she climbs into the coffin with her daughter. It’s clear that she is mourning the loss of her daughter despite her aggression, which means there are some feelings there. There isn’t much time to work on this, as Blaine Abel shows up and set the coffin on fire, burning both the dead body and the Reviver.

It’s not going to keep the woman down, though. Ramin does share that the cells are already repairing. Is there any way to kill a Reviver? This is a topic that is sure to keep coming up, as Abel is clearly against all Revivers, but not for the same reason as Wayne. I think he views them as some sort of biblical evil, and he thinks it’s his duty to rid the town of this evil.

At the end of the day, though, Abel and Wayne want the same thing. They want the Revivers gone.

So, did Abel kill Em, since he was on the bridge with her that night? That’s unlikely based on what we know in Revival season 1, episode 3, but we’re not ruling it out just yet.

Revival airs on Thursdays at 10/9c on Syfy.
