The end of The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox saw Dr. Mignini walk into a confessional in a church ,crying. There are a lot of questions about what that scene was about, with some wondering if he realized that he had been completely wrong about the situation.
Dr. Mignini forced the evidence to fit his suspicions, that Amanda Knox was among the people to kill Meredith Kercher. Despite Amanda being acquitted in 2011, she faced another trial (although in absentia) but was then completely acquitted by the Italian Supreme Court in 2015. That doesn’t mean everyone believes that she was innocent of all charges.

Dr. Mignini isn’t convinced of Amanda Knox’s innocence
Sadly for Amanda, her main accuser doesn’t believe that she is innocent after all. He isn’t sorry for the actions that he took. While he is sorry for the way it all went down, he hasn’t shown any sign of regret for forcing the evidence to fit.
In fact, he still believes that Amanda was partly involved in the murder of Meredith Kercher. While he doesn’t believe that she was the one to commit the murder, she does believe that she was present when it all went down, as The Telegraph reports.
This builds into The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, which we saw play out in episode 7. While Amanda was cleared of murder, the Italian Supreme Court didn’t rule out the possibility that she wasn’t there at the time it happened.

Why would Mignini believe it was Amanda in The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox?
The series looked into Mignini’s side of the story, sharing that he constantly viewed Amanda as the perpetrator due to her actions at the time. He couldn’t explain her behavior, and it’s something that many people have continued to hold onto today.
He believed that Amanda, Raffaele Sollecito, and Rudy Guede worked together to kill Meredith in some sort of sex game. Despite some of the things Amanda would say about Meredith, he was sure that this young woman was the exact opposite of Amanda, not interested in constantly bringing boys home. Of course, this came from Meredith’s friends’ statements about the two of them, but by this point, there was already a bias against Amanda.
Amanda and Mignini did meet in Italy in 2022, which offered Amanda a chance to face her accuser. This also offered Mignini a chance to meet Amanda and get to know her a little better. It’s not changed his viewpoint, though.
So, yes, Mignini is still sure that Amanda was there at the time of the murder. So, I’m interested in the reasoning behind the ending for him in The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox.
The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox is available to stream on Hulu.
