After hearing plenty about it and waiting for news of a Blue Bloods spinoff, we finally get to see it all come to fruition. Boston Blue premieres during CBS Premiere Week, and you will not want to miss a beat.
This series will see Donnie Wahlberg return as Danny Reagan, but he’s not in New York anymore. He makes a move to Boston, but it’s not entirely clear why he chooses to do that just yet. After all, the end of Blue Bloods didn’t see him hint that he wanted something new. This is not a series you’ll want to overlook, especially if you loved the Tom Selleck series.

Watch every episode of Boston Blue live
CBS will air the new series, and there’s some exciting (and unsurprising) news about the air time. Boston Blue will air on Fridays at 10/9c, which was the same timeslot the flagship series had that proved to be successful.
Boston Blue premieres on Friday, Oct. 17, straight after episodes of Fire Country and Sheriff Country. While the two Country shows will switch timeslots the following week, Boston Blue will hold onto the last timeslot of the night, and it makes sense. After all, people who loved Blue Bloods will want to tune in for this one.
Of course, the best way to watch CBS is with your cable provider. What if you don’t have cable anymore, though? With the way streaming platforms are going, I’d recommend cable, but there are other ways to watch live, including via Fubo TV or Sling TV. You can also watch a lot of CBS content live via Paramount+.
Watch the Blue Bloods spinoff throughout the weekend
Don’t have the chance to watch live on a Friday night? CBS makes it easy to stream the following day, with all episodes heading to Paramount+. The episodes are usually added around 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT, so it’ll be up to you whether you stay up to watch or you catch it when you wake up the next morning.
Either way, just make sure you have that subscription in place, as that’s where all CBS content goes the day after. There will be plenty to catch up on throughout the weekend.

What to expect in Boston Blue
Of course, we need to know why Danny is moving to Boston. It looks like from the promo that he is just visiting, and that leads to him chasing down a suspect. After all, he says that he is NYPD, which he was by the end of Blue Bloods.
Something is going to lead to him joining Boston PD, where he’s teaming up with Detective Lena Peters (Sonequa Martin-Green), who also comes from a line of police officers. She’s the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family, so the two will have a lot of similarities and shared experiences that they can connect over. It makes a change to have two characters who are similar rather than constantly butting heads with the way they do things.
We’re expecting some Blue Bloods cameos now and then, with Bridget Moynahan showing up first. Maybe we’ll find out what happened between Danny and Baez, considering they were talking about dinner as we ended Blue Bloods.
Boston Blue airs on Fridays at 10/9c on CBS.
