At long last, the Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Minds premiere is here in the United States. It’s only taken two seasons of the series to air in Canada for U.S. audiences to finally get it.
This series is set to give us a different look at the law and justice systems. After all, Canada has many different rules and regulations, such as not having the Miranda Rights. These are all going to stand out in the first episode of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Minds.
In the first season, we follow the Specialized Criminal Investigations Unit, headed by Detective Sergeants Henry Graff and Frankie Bateman. Together, they work on the high-profile homicides across Canada’s largest metropolitan city.
Of course, with the city they’re in, it means covering a variety of worlds. Whether it’s high finances, media, or even politics, there is a dark underbelly to delve into.
When will Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent air?
The first episode of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent will air tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on The CW. The good news is that it doesn’t go up against the other Law & Order shows on NBC, but it will go up another Dick Wolf franchise starting in October, the One Chicago franchise.
After the first episode, the series will air on Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW. You’ll be able to catch up the following day on The CW app, which is free to stream on, but it is ad-supported.
There are 10 episodes in the first season, but it’s not clear if all 10 episodes will air in 2025, or if there will be a break around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Will Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent season 2 air?
In some great news, The CW didn’t just pick up the first season of the Canadian crime drama. Seeing the positive responses in Canada, it picked up both seasons that have already aired. We know that season 2 is set to arrive in 2026.
It’s likely that we’ll need to wait until fall 2026 for the season to arrive. However, this will depend on the way the American audiences take to the series.
Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent season 3 is happening in Canada
In some great news, there will be a third season of the Canadian series. At least, there will be in Canada, with Citytv ordering it and with it expected to air in 2026, likely in the winter to match when previous seasons have aired.
The CW hasn’t yet picked up this third season, and it may not pick it up until closer to the end of the first season airing. After all, the network needs to know that it is worth the financial risk.
