The start of FBI: International season 4, episode 15 brought us a reminder of Wes Mitchell’s life back in LA. If you thought the premiere was the only time we’d see Jade Tailor in the series, you’d be wrong. She returned as Ella Clancy in the new episode.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for FBI: International season 4, episode 15.

The episode opened with Ella calling Wes to tell him that their house had a buyer and they needed to figure out a way to split property taxes. There was clearly an ulterior motive to the call, though. She then said that she had a “tricky” case, and Wes quickly got her off the phone by telling her to run it up the chain of command.

Of course, that wasn’t the answer Ella wanted, leading to Amanda sharing that Ella was calling for Wes at the office. Then she showed up at the very end of the episode.

Who is Ella Clancy in FBI: International?

Wes wasn’t quite single when he first moved to Budapest. Ella was his girlfriend, although they were in a heavily toxic relationship. It was soon clear that they were better off apart, and Wes accepted that by taking on the role as Fly Team Leader in the opening of FBI: International season 4.

That was the last we heard of Ella, she was still working with the LAPD. It looks like that is even the case in the new episode, as she is still in LA. At least, she is at the start of the episode. At the end, she arrives at Fly Team HQ to visit Wes.

What does Ella want in FBI: International?

There are high chances that Ella wants to reunite with her former boyfriend. There is always the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder” and then another of “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” Is it possible that this time apart and what seems to be very little contact outside of the house has made Ella realize that what she had with Wes was the right thing? Meanwhile, it seems to have told Wes that he didn’t have the right thing.

With Ella coming into the story at this point in the series, it would suggest that it is for a case. This makes sense with the way the series has been going, bringing in a few guest characters that have some sort of direct connection to Wes’s storyline. We had Tyler, who knew Wes from earlier on in their career, and then Quinn, who came in with the attempt to take Wes down under the orders of Zaleski.

It doesn’t seem like Zaleski is really done with Wes, so it could be possible that he’s found a way in with Ella. Or we could find out that she has a genuine case and decided to come in person in an attempt to start up the relationship again. We’re ready for whatever this storyline brings, but we'll need to wait a bit for that.

FBI: International airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
