After plenty of questions about how it would all turn out, 911: Lone Star finally brought us a new lieutenant of the 126. It all happened as lives were on the line with the chlorine gas.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for 911: Lone Star season 5, episode 3

The new episode saw the 126 tackle the chlorine gas cloud. It meant putting their own lives on the line, with Marjan coming out with chemical burns on her hands. While Tommy, TK, and Nancy were trapped in a school with fears that they would die, the wind changed direction and the gas cloud miraculously disappeared.

Judd also turned up just at the right time to get Owen and his patient out of dodge. Honestly, the way everything worked out was so eye-rollingly expected for a drama.

Judd returns to the 126 in 911: Lone Star

At the end, Judd realized what he really wanted to do. As much as he enjoyed driving the truck, he realized that his heart is with firefighting. So, by the end of the episode, he’s back in Owen’s office. Everyone assumes that he will return as lieutenant, but that’s not the case.

He’s had a year out. He needs to return as a probie, and he will take all that with grace.

A firefighter is promoted in 911: Lone Star

So, that means the position of lieutenant is still open. Owen had finally made a decision and wrote a name down. However, Marjan had something to say first.

While she really wants the job and is the firefighter who will run into danger, she admits that she isn’t the best as lieutenant. She missed the clues that there was someone else trapped in the train wreck. Paul spotted the baseball cap, and he realized that there was someone else out there. They needed to find the boy who had jumped onto the train.

Marjan admitted that because of this, Paul would be the best choice for lieutenant. So, Owen agrees and Paul is the one promoted.

Owen did whisper something to Marjan at the end, but we don’t get to know what that is yet. Was it a congratulations for stepping down and seeing her own weakness? Was it to tell her that her name was on the card? She had a smile on her face, which does suggest that it was something positive for her, so I’m going with that she did the right thing in stepping down as it means she has room to grow and learn.
