When Will Trent season 3 came to an end, two lives were on the line. We’ve had to wait all summer and fall to learn about Ormewood and Amanda’s fates. In some great news, Will Trent season 4 didn’t waste any time in answering the questions.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from the Will Trent season 4 premiere.
The end of season 3 left us with two lives on the line. Amanda had been shot during the shootout at the GBI, with doctors sharing that the next 48 hours were crucial after her surgery. Then Ormewood collapsed from his brain tumor, with Faith calling an ambulance as fortunately she was there with her roommate.
With the Will Trent season 4 trailer telling us nothing, we feared the worst. However, the premiere picked up five months later with some quick answers.

Ormewood survived the collapse in the Will Trent season 4 premiere
The first character we learn about is Ormewood, who did survive the seizure that he suffered on the Will Trent season 3 finale. It looks like he’s now getting treatment for his brain tumor, which offers hope that he will make a recovery in the future.
It’s worth noting that Ormewood is currently on desk duty, and now it makes sense that Franklin is going to be in the series more, as Kevin Daniels has been upped to series regular. That hasn’t stopped him from joining Angie and Franklin on drives, but he’s not officially meant to be on those calls.

Amanda is recovering from the shooting in Will Trent
After Ormewood, we learn that Amanda also survived her predicament. At first, there are concerns that she didn’t make it, as someone else is at her desk, but Will points out that this man is only there on a temporary basis.
Amanda did survive, but she is now on medical leave. We see her during the recovery, where she’s walking around with a cane, but things are looking good physically. We’re five months after the incident, which suggests that she is through the worst of the complications.
However, that incident is sure to have a knock-on effect on her emotionally. Despite all the training, an event like that will leave a lasting scar, potentially with some fear if something similar happens. Of course, Amanda has been through a lot in her time with the GBI and as a cop, so we’re not too worried about lasting scars, especially with the recent updates with James and Will.
Will Trent season 4 airs on Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC.
