Nancy Drew: What could Nancy’s parents have to do with Lucy Sable’s death?
Nancy Drew started with the mystery about Tiffany Hudson’s murder but ended with another mystery. What could her parents have to do with Lucy Sable?
If you thought there was only going to be on mystery in Nancy Drew on The CW, you thought wrong. Not only does Nancy have to figure out the mystery behind Tiffany Hudson’s murder, but she also learned that her parents have some sort of connection to Lucy Sable’s death.
Lucy was introduced in the beginning of the pilot episode. She fell to her death on prom night, and somehow, he bloody dress was found in the Drew attic in a locked trunk. How? Why? It certainly suggests that Nancy’s parents had something to do with it.

I’ve got to question one thing, though: Why would they still have this dress after all this time? If they were the ones who killed Lucy, whether accidentally or on purpose, wouldn’t they have burned that evidence by now? It’s been decades since Lucy’s death. There would be no need to keep the dress in the trunk.

It suggests there’s something bigger around this. Is it possible that the Drew family have spent their lives trying to figure out who killed Lucy? Do they have the evidence in the hope of using it later? Not that the dress would be admissible in court since it’s not been kept in the evidence lock-up all this time. Nancy’s father would know that.
Like any teen drama, the parents have their secrets. We’ve seen it in The Vampire Diaries, Riverdale, and many more shows. However, the secrets aren’t always initially what they seem.
If Carson and his wife had something to do with Lucy’s death, it doesn’t make sense to keep the dress. As a lawyer, Carson would know it to be a big mistake. He’d have burned the evidence. This suggests that the blood isn’t on his or his wife’s hands.
Could we find out that actually there’s some sort of familial connection to Lucy instead? Or did Nancy’s parents believe in spirits and wanted to keep the dress to bring back Lucy’s spirit? Maybe someone else has planted it in the attic to make the Drews look guilty.
This is probably not a mystery that we’ll get solved in the next episode. After all, Tiffany’s body is being moved so Nancy needs to put her focus on that. However, give it a few episodes and I think we’ll have more questions and maybe some answers.
What do you think the connection to the dress is? Why does Carson have it in his attic? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
