CBS has released the first look at Criminal Minds’ final season. This sneak peek into Criminal Minds Season 15 suggests JJ and Reid are getting together.

Criminal Minds will begin its final season in January. CBS is finally giving us some images, with the first being focused on the upcoming JJ and Reid storyline.

Let’s backtrack to Season 14 for a minute. The finale delivered JJ’s confession. She has feelings for Reid. After all this time, their platonic relationship is threatened. Does Reid harbor the same feelings? We were left with that question as the season came to an end.

Now there are just 10 episodes left of the series, and this appears to be one of the bigger storylines. If I’m honest, I’m not that happy about it. It’s a cliche storyline, as we continue this idea that men and women can’t possibly just work together. Reid and JJ worked so well as best friends, in the way that Garcia and Morgan have always worked well.

Of course, the first-look image from TVLine for Criminal Minds Season 15 could just be a red herring. While it looks like the two are in civilian clothing and out for a stroll, we could find out that they’re being honest and open with each other; maybe that Reid doesn’t have the same feelings.

Bringing in this relationship in the final season is a big mistake. It’s 10 episodes that could be focused on the big case at hand. Instead, elements of the story will be spent on a relationship that isn’t necessary and will end up being rushed if the writers go for a storyline that involves the two together. There’s too much that would be messy with JJ and Reid getting together, especially for JJ!
