Okay, so the British guy is Russ Taylor, played by the excellent Henry Ian Cusick. Russ is a former MI6 agent, who needs Mac and the team to work together on a new mission. He’s literally getting the gang back together because he needs only the best to work on the current situation.

That current situation? Oh, only the potential threat of a bomb in a major U.S. city. No big deal, right?

While it does seem semi-normal for TV crime dramas, there is a small change. Nobody knows who is responsible for the potential bomb. It’s not just people hiding behind masks, but a completely anonymous organization. And MacGyver is going to have to, well, MacGyver his way out of the sticky situations the Phoenix Foundation gets into.

Oh, and did I tell you that it’s a bioweapon that’s being used? This weapon was stolen and it doesn’t sound like anybody really knows where in a major U.S. city the bomb is going to go off.

What’s going to be interesting is how Russ Taylor fits in with the team. I get the sense that he’s going to be one of those characters you either love or hate at the moment. He’ll be eccentric and he’ll get on your nerves at times, but he also knows that Mac and the team are the best for the job. He trusts them, which is saying a lot for a newbie.
