The race was on to capture the Bone Collector on Lincoln Rhyme’s Season 1 finale. Did the team capture or kill him, and what happened at the very end?

We knew the Bone Collector would either be captured or killed at the end of Lincoln Rhyme Season 1. There was only one of two ways that it would playout for the antagonist. So, which way did it go and what happened at the very end of the finale?

Caution: Spoilers for Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector‘s season finale are in this post.

The race was on to capture the Bone Collector after sharing his name everywhere. It all became extremely personal, taking Amelia back to the diner her parents were killed and kidnapping Sellitto. While Lincoln’s former partner survived, it was Castillo that was unfortunately killed, allowing the Bone Collector to kidnap Nia and Camdyn.

Lincoln put himself at risk to meet with the Bone Collector. It all went down where Lincoln slipped up three years ago; the warehouse he severed his spine.

Of course, the Bone Collector believed that he had won; that he would be able to take down the great Lincoln Rhyme. However, Lincoln knew that he had his team. Just as the Bone Collector tried to detonate the bomb attached to Camdyn, Lincoln’s team had managed to disarm it. The Bone Collector went into a rage and attacked Lincoln.

Would it lead to Lincoln’s death? What about the Bone Collector’s?

Neither! The Bone Collector grabbed the camera from Lincoln’s jacket and stabbed himself with the pin. That pin was laced with a paralytic poison that made the Bone Collector feel what it was like to be Lincoln. It would only be temporary, but long enough for the Bone Collector to be arrested.

You see, after believing that he wanted the Bone Collector dead, Lincoln realized that capturing and imprisoning would be the more fitting option. And I agree! Killing would have been too easy.

Leaving the ending open for Lincoln Rhyme Season 2

At the very end, the team celebrated Castillo’s life. They said goodbye at the bar surrounded by people Castillo worked with. But if only it could end like that.

Sellitto found a package, which had been on its way to Lincoln and was supposed to be the third clue to help Lincoln find Nia (fortunately, Castillo’s smartwatch helped with that). Inside was a phone, with someone new giving Lincoln a murder to solve.

What murder? Told to go outside, the team headed out of the bar only to see a body of a woman drop on top of a car. This is the crime to solve in Lincoln Rhyme Season 2. Now we need to hope that NBC renews the series.
