5 TV crime dramas to watch this weekend: June 27-28
5 top TV crime dramas this weekend, including Penny Dreadful: City of Angels
As we head into another weekend, we’re looking for things to watch. It’s all about the cable networks and streaming services once more. There are some great TV crime dramas to watch, though.
Some of the dramas are airing their season finales this week (or they aired them during the week). You’ll want to spend the weekend binge-watching the previous episodes and then catch the finales when they air.
There’s also a Lifetime movie to watch and a show that’s focused on the animal police rather than human police. After all, animals need some extra protection.
Here are the top five TV crime dramas to check out from June 27 to 28.
The Wrong House Sitter
More from TV Crime Dramas

- School Spirits Season 2 release updates and everything we know
- Accused Season 2 release date, cast, and everything we know
- Wild Cards: What is the new CW crime caper dramedy about?
Like a previous weekend, there’s a Lifetime movie to check out. It’s not technically a TV crime drama as it’s not a series, but it is a made-for-TV movie. I still think it counts!
Jason-Shane Scott stars as a successful editor who is getting ready for a business trip. He needs a house sitter and thinks he’s found the perfect one. What happens when he learns that this house sitter isn’t planning to leave the house? Oh, and she may want in on his life, too!
Bad Mothers Season 1
When it comes to streaming services, Bad Mothers has become a popular show to watch. It’s on our list this weekend because the season finale dropped on Thursday. This is your chance to find out who killed Charlotte after all.
You can spend the whole weekend binge-watching the eight episodes. The finale is already available, so that’s your Saturday sorted, right?
Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Season 1 finale
Over on SHOWTIME, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels will air its season finale on Sunday at 10/9c. This is great news if you have the app. You can watch the first nine episodes all over again in time for the finale.
The episode is set to see rioting in LA and the threats of martial law. And nobody has found out what the cops did to Diego yet!
Grantchester Season 5
Did you know Grantchester is currently airing on PBS Masterpiece? It’s time to grab a subscription and catch up on the previous two episodes. Then you’re ready for Episode 3 to air on Sunday at 9/8c.
Episode 3 sees Will and Ellie go on their first date. It’s a trip to the movie theaters, but everything is cut short when a murdered body is found. Geordie investigates and learns there is a movie star connection, oddball employees, and much more.
Lone Star Law: Texas Justice
Some cops are there to protect the animals. However, that doesn’t stop murder investigations. When a tiger shark is found dead, the cops need to figure out what happened. This isn’t just a case of attack by animal.
Oh, and all this is real. Lone Star Law: Texas Justice is a great look at what the wildlife police do on a daily basis. There is a rerun on Sunday night, but you can watch a new episode at 10/9c on Sunday on Animal Planet.
