5 TV crime dramas to watch this weekend: Aug. 15-16
It’s all about Lifetime movies and streaming for TV crime dramas this weekend
It seems like a quiet weekend when it comes to TV crime dramas. The Alienist: Angel of Darkness and Perry Mason have both come to an end. So, what is there to watch?
We’re turning to streaming services and Lifetime movies to keep us company this weekend, Aug. 15-16. Here are five top TV crime dramas to watch.
Mapleworth Murders
We’ll start with Quibi. One of the great things about the new streaming service is that content is in bite-sized chunks. If you want to binge-watch, you can save it all to do so and it will still probably only take you as long as two normal episodes of TV.
Mapleworth Murders is something to check out. It’s a comedy rather than a strict drama, but there’s a murder mystery to solve. This is an over-the-top version of Acorn TV’s Agatha Raisin and Queens of Mystery.
The series follows an author of mystery novellas who thinks she’s the latest Miss Marple.
The Fugitive
Another Quibi offering dropped on the streamer at the start of the month. The Fugitive, starring Kiefer Sutherland, is something for those who miss 24.
Sutherland plays Detective Clay Bryce who is searching for a man on the run. The problem is that man on the run is innocent and desperate to clear his name. Turning himself in isn’t going to allow him to do that. It’s a fun cat and mouse game in bite-sized chunks.

If you’re looking for more time to take up, turn your attention to Sundance Now. Five episodes of The Secrets She Keeps are now available to stream. We’re at the point where the race is on for one of our women, while the other woman tries to keep her own secrets buried.
The finale airs this week. This is the best time to binge-watch all five episodes so far ready for the last installment.

The Fall
Still need something that will fill up more time? It’s all about The Fall. You can watch this either through Sundance Now or BritBox. Either way, you have three seasons of the cat and mouse game between Stella Gibson and Paul Spector.
One of the great things about the series is seeing 50 Shades of Grey‘s Jamie Dornan in a darker and far more serious role. His acting abilities definitely stand out. It’s a smartly-written show that you need to watch immediately.
Psycho Sister-in-Law
Finally, we turn our attention to the Lifetime movie of the week. Psycho Sister-in-Law is the one you’ll want to check out this weekend, about Nick Downes’s half-sister Zara, causing a fair few problems for Nick and his wife when she moves in with them after the death of Zara and Nick’s father.
The wife is expecting their first child. It seems that Zara may be a little jealous of Nick’s wife, which could threaten the life of both the wife and the child.
Psycho Sister-in-Law is on Lifetime on Aug. 16 at 8/7c.
